This is a basic weathering tutorial, nothing seriuos, some steps are clearly inspired (read: stolen) from Ultrawerke's ones.

Also I want to thanks to Winterdine, Ravenous, Warflag (from Warseer), Zxyogi, 1000heathens, F. A. Chapter Master and Spongebob (from B&C) because without their wise advices, help and support this article can't be done.

First of all here is the basecoated model:

Is just primed in black, and basecoated with Army Painter Navy Blue spray. The color was so shiny, so I washed the whole rhino with Asurmen Blue. Becareful with that, I washed and is not the proper method, because wash leaves pools of paint and then looks bad, but that can be fixed later. What do you really want to do here, is not a wash, but a filter.

Give a filter is very easy, dip the brush into the pot and then pass it for a paper towel and let it soak the over wash. Let it dry completely.

Now let's paint some details:

Next step is to give the model some dusty appearance. I maked this using a variation of Ultrawerke's method.

Take a bit of paint, in the same proportion for each color: Golden yellow, skull white, regal blue, catachan green, blood red and blazing orange. Mix them with water, until the mix seems a wash. Then go again to filter the model. I used a large brush (#18):

When dried, the model looks more or less like this:

You can spot a subtle dusty layer. Now, it's sponge time! I used that:

I don't want to ruin another rhino, so I practiced in the hull's bottom, when you can see different methods:

From left to right my takes on...

Zxyogi: Not sure about the results, maybe I need to go with a darker metal basecoat. I used 50% chaos black and 50% boltgun metal. Lights with chainmail.

Ravenous: The sponge wasn't very good, so the outcome isn't, but it's more or less the same technique than the 1000heathens one. I need to improve that.

1000heathens: The best outcome imho, due the contrast, but also implies that I must hightlight the whole rhino. Maybe a mix of this with Ravenous' method can work.

Spongebob: Another good result, but i think that can get better with a darker grey instead of codex grey.

And, more or less, Winterdyne's method:

And that's all for now (To be continued)
