Colonial Rifles 206th Platoon.

Vasquez
That nerdy hobby...

Needing a break of power armour, I'm thinking about restarting my dusty IG army. This is a bit unrelated to the pourpose of this blog, but seriously, don't want to start a blog just for this so you can expect some unrelated guard posts time to time.

The theme of that army is mostly based in "Platoon" the movie with some touches of USCM from Alien II. That mean almost no tanks, no mechvets, and no (not much at least) AirCav.

In both films there are flyers: A drop ship in Alien and one Fighter in Platoon, so one or two Valkyries are more or less justified. Same apply for transports (at least one M113 in Platoon & the M577A3 from Alien II. This implies mostly a gunline army with some ground and air support.

Enemies of the Imperium: Dark Eldar

Image from http://fatesofashe.com
Bear in mind the fact that I use the Chaos Space Marines Codex to represent an Astartes Legion, so most of the focus of this article will be in the CSM 'dex, but also with some bits for Loyalists (Blood Angels, I'm looking to you!).

This is a "new" threat for most of us, specially the most outdated armies. I'm not a WAAC player, -nor a "friendly" for that matter, I want my lists fully optimized but keeping the theme to the most- also bear in mind that this are my own impressions with the aim of crush the foul xenos everywhere

Collateral Damage: 40k Mission sistem (house rules)

DISCLAIMER: First I want to credit Str10_Hurts for his amazing idea of bringing back some 2nd edition rules, nothing of this can be possible without his previous work. Also I want to explain some stuff. I've been playing GW games for a long time, and GW still having a lot of fun, but I feel as I need more!

To the point, how to make 40k more interesting and friendly and less power gaming?

One of the many possibilities would be bringing back the old 2ed style missions. For those of you that haven't played in the second edition of WH40K, the missions are randomly picked from a pile of cards, and will be secretly played until the end of the game. Then, you must play your own mission, trying to prevent the other player of accomplishing(sp?) his own mission.

This is intended to be a free game expansion and not to make money. You're also free to reproduce and modify all of this article or only the part you like, since you credit to us and this site, also quoting the Disclaimer. The artwork showed here is property of their actual owners and no IP law breaking is intended in any way or form. If you own some of that artwork and don't want it showed in this site please e-mail me and it will be removed.

Ok, GW purists, better you stop reading from now or you're in risk to fail your Perils from the Warp test and become a chaos spawn.

Making pre Heresy obliterators (II)

Part I

Hi there, good afternoon. Here is a bit of progress with my first Obliterator. I've added some details here and there. The wound one (aka Brother Wone or lascannon guy) is almost completed, just need minor GS work to fill some gaps. I'm not very happy with wound two (or, like he like call himself, Brother Tchooh), not sure if it's the pose, the power fist, or the whole model.

Making pre Heresy obliterators

Good morning Vietnam! I've stoped from painting this days, but don't worry, the weathering tutorial for starters would be finished!

Now let's talking about the Obliterator cult. I'm not really a fan of them. Certainly I would be much happier with Cult Terminators... But better to keep this on-topic :)

The Obliterators are a very versatile Heavy Support choice, and, besides I only play WH40K for the fluff, I like to win sometimes. Of course, I play to win, but for the fluff. Combine both concepts can be very painful, so following the wise advices of The Jeske (B&C) and specially, of VonManstein (Warseer, aka Zhukov in B&C) I conceded and picked a unit of Obliterators to play in competitive enviroments.

Big Update! 1800 point army

WARNING: PIC HEAVY

Well, after a week of painting hell and a painful tournament, with the help of my friend x-ro177 (aka David), here is an army update. Most of the "to do list" is nearly completed.

First of all we have Wrathe Berzerker squad, with Khârn...

You can notice that the bases are not finished. This apply to the whole army :)

Deus Irae (II)

Deus Irae part 1
Deus Irae part 3

I was thinking that paint large vehicles was easiest than little minis... False! I had hard times painting that damned Knight. Not finished yet, but here are some pre-view pictures (and you can appreciate my (lack of) painting skills).

Wrathe Berzerker Squad

After countless painting hours (8 or so) here they are. Still WIP as you can see, they need some details, basework and, of course, blood.

Inspired by this piece of artwork:

Deus Irae

Deus Irae part 2
Deus Irae Part 3

At the end of 3 intensive work days, I can say that almost finished the Knight titan (this monster was terrible
time consumer, between 15 and 18 hours!) but I think tat is worth the efforth and the time invested.

Still alive...

But I can't say the same about my laptop. Is nearly dead. I had 3 daysfighting against it but the HDD is so broken ("KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR" BSOD ¬_¬) and I'm now with my girlfriend's notebook... And when I go to buy another this morning the car's engine also crashed. A black winter day.

Anyway, hands on!

Skane Havoc squad [WIP]

I had some hard days this weekend, 2 broken laptops and one mobile (also broken) to fix. But the techmarine that I have in me will win! 3 issues fixed and finally I have time to spend in the hobby :)

Here is some work in Skane's havoc squad:

Predator's revamp & some progress with a Havoc squad

Some time without updates, but finally I managed to get a propper camera. First of all, in view of an upcomming tournament, been forced to transform the Predator into a Command RH1N0 (where will ride Captain Khârn & his Command Squad -7x "possessed with "Icon of Khorne" (actually, the Company banner)).

Tactical Squad Ariakus & Honor's Retribution

Well, at least I could get my hands on a camera! This models still WIP but nearly finished. As you can see I can't paint white, so I must go in another way. I painted the white parts of the armour dirty and dusty. This army would be desert themed/based so I think that is ok.

Quotes from the Heresy: World Eaters

The World Eaters were First Founding Space Marines, and still regard themselves as such.

Even before the Horus Heresy, the World Eaters were noted for their bloody-handed approach to warfare and savagery of their training, Chapter rituals and treatment of enemies [...]

The World Eaters wear armour in Khorne's colours of red and black. Individual patterns vary, but the right gauntlet is always painted red as a mark of loyalty to Khorne [...]

However, the original chapter colours of white and blue are still visible on some items of World Eaters armour and equipment. Often a shoulder piece, a breastplate or a single piece of armour has come from one of the Legion's original Space Marines and has been incorporated (without redecoration) into the Legion's new armour [...]

Special Rules

World Eaters Legionnaires are subject to hatred of all mortal followers of Slaanesh, Space Marines, Inquisitors, psykers and spellcasters of any kind [...]

Pre Heresy Legion Organization

Well, I belive that this need a proper thread. I've been thinking in how a legio is structured and organized. There are many holes here and I hope that with your help we can fill this holes.

This is a quote from this topic:
I go for Century [consensus in the absence of a better term for Company divisions].in the Company divisions and organization.
I'm wondering the same about the WE Captains, if they are more or less the equivalent of a Chapter Master, what is the equivalent of a captain? I guess we actually don't have any. But if we go a little forward on time to the Space Crusade/Rogue Trader era --not crusade/pre heresy era I know, is post heresy, I'm guessing the scourge era (or whatever is called) mainly because at least in Space Crusade, there are no Chapters yet, but Legiones Astartes-- We have some nice ranks:

Lieutenant Comander - In charge of ? (not sure about this one).
Captain - In charge of the Company
Lieutenant - In charge of the Century
Sargent - In charge of a squad

Pre Heresy World Eaters, which codex to use?

In the beginning I’ve considered the Blood Angels bandwagon, but there are so many things that keep me away from using it it. This codex have some interesting things what can temp to any player to use it, like assault squads as troops, the almighty Death ‘count as Berserker’ Company, hand flamers, Honour Guard, and so on, but there are also things like ‘all fast vehicles’ that doesn’t fit in any ways, and a lot of things like Sanguinary Guard, Psyker-Dreads, dedicated Land Raiders… Is the general feeling of C:BA that I don’t like for a pre-Heresy World Eaters army.

Of all Space Marine codex, there are two of them that can fit really well in the theme, Codex Black Templars and Codex Chaos Space Marines.

Mandatory 1st article and introduction post.

Hi, this is the compulsory 1st post.

My name is Jorge, I have 33 years and I am from Spain. I played GW games sice 1991 aprox, but not continuous. I started with HeroQuest, Space Crusade and Battle Masters (and yeah, I still have the first two), after a few years of relax, I played WFB 1ts ed until 3th ed (mainly with undeads/vampire counts, but also Bretonia, Chaos Warriors of Slaanesh (Thulsa Doom's Conan themed army)) and, finally, WH40k and Gorka-Morka.

From 40k, I made a CSM (Word Bearers) and a SM (no chapter, unpainted) both unfortunately, sold.

Now, this is the starting of a Pre Heresy World Eaters army. This blog will be updated with any progress in the army, tutorials and random stuff 40k related.

And well, thats all folks!
